Polygon 2.0: Ignition Sequence Start 🔥
Big things are coming to @0xPolygon , as their team recently announced that the implementation for #Polygon 2.0 is beginning.
On September 14, 2023, they released the first PIPs (Polygon Improvement Proposals) that are going to kickstart this massive initiative.
You heard it right, the entire Polygon ecosystem is getting a revamp... and it's bigger than you can even imagine.
Today, the dragon is spitting some high-level facts about these PIPs and what you need to know about what's next in the pipeline 👇
PIP-18
This PIP outlines a broad roadmap of how Phase 0 will play out, with big plans and upgrades scheduled to take place to build Polygon's vision of an interconnected network of zk-powered L2 chains to dramatically scale @ethereum .
Changes will be implemented on the Ethereum contracts for the PoS and zkEVM chains, one of the biggest being upgrading $MATIC to $POL as well as making $POL the native gas and staking token for PoS.
Also in the works will be the launch of a Staking Layer and migrating Polygon public chains to maximize its utility, as $POL will be used to secure many chains with the same stake.
PIP-17
This proposal dives deeper into details on the $POL token and its respective contracts that would handle emission and a one-to-one token migration of $MATIC.
This is especially exciting news for the community, as people have been buzzing about the $POL token and its utility.
It will be used for staking, governance, ownership, and driving activity for Polygon's future network of zk-based L2s.
PIP-19
A critical part of the broader plan is to upgrade the PoS native gas token to $POL (previously $MATIC), which will be done by upgrading the native $MATIC Bridge Contract.
Even better, as these changes are put into motion, all of the PoS contracts and native token properties will perform as normal - a seamless experience indeed!
Brace for Impact: Incoming Purple Tidal Wave
Things are heating up across the purple ecosystem with Polygon 2.0 now kicking into gear.
Keep an eye out from @0xPolygonLabs and the team for more updates on all of the upgrades and implementations set to take place.
The dragon army couldn't be more excited for what's to come! Can you keep up, anon?
